Ice skating is one of the best ways to experience winter in Stockholm. From central outdoor rinks to frozen lakes nearby, the city offers skating with a uniquely Swedish twist.
Stockholm is situated where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea, a location that has shaped its history and trade routes. Stockholm was built on 14 islands and is the gateway to the Stockholm Archipelago, a landscape of 30 000 islands. This means the city is surrounded by water and a perfect destination for water and ice activities.
Thanks to "Allemansrätten", the Right of Public Access, nature areas in Stockholm, as in all of Sweden, are accessible and open to everyone. It's a right granted by the Swedish constitution and gives people free access to the outdoors.
No matter if you're a pro skater or feel like Bambi out on the ice, Stockholm offers numerous, accessible skating spots.
Skating on natural ice is a wonderful experience and a perfect way to try this adventure is to join a group and a guided tour. Stockholm Adventures offers guided tours on longdistance skates and you are welcome to join the beginners multiday option.
We call the winter season for the glimmering season filled with glimmers, small moments of wellbeing - often found outdoors, in nature, especiall during winter.
Spots are limited to 6 international journalists for this trip, allowing only one representative per media outlet.
