31 August - 4 September: Island hopping in the Gothenburg archipelago

What if time in nature was exactly what you were prescribed?

This press trip to the Gothenburg archipelago invites you to experience a slower side of Sweden’s west coast, where island life, movement, and sea air offer a natural remedy for modern life. Across both the northern and southern islands, you’ll explore a landscape shaped by wind and water – and meet the people who bring it to life.

New perspectives add to this year’s journey, from hiking in the northern archipelago to experiencing island life through those who call it home.

Join us for:

  • Hönö Island: A lively harbour island with local shops and coastal culture
  • Göteborg Archipelago Trail (northern archipelago): Hike along a stretch of this scenic trail, offering sweeping views of sea, granite and open landscapes
  • Styrsö Island: A car-free island with beaches and panoramic views
  • Meeting Hans Hirschi, a long-time Styrsö resident, writer and guide, who shares a personal view of island life through stories, places and everyday moments
  • Vrångö Island: Nature reserves and the iconic pilot house
  • Meeting Algblomman, a seaweed forager and storyteller, sharing her perspective on sustainable future food
  • Our first taste of the Gothenburg Royale, a regional signature dish celebrating local flavours and sustainable food culture, now served in the archipelago setting
  • Humlegården: Lunch at a newly reimagined island café, bringing new life to a classic location
  • Kusthotellet: Our first group press stay by the sea in a setting that invites calm, comfort and connection to nature.
