Artist Carl Larsson’s homestead
Many of the works of Swedish painter Carl Larsson featured his and his wife Karin’s home Little Hyttnäs in Sundborn, just outside Falun in the province of Dalarna. Their success – Karin as an interior designer and Carl as a painter – has made Little Hyttnäs one of the most famous artist’s homes in the world, now open to the public.

19–22 May: Where Sweden got its colours – a cultural route through Dalarna

From Canvas to countryside. Dalarna is often described as “Sweden in miniature”. Red cottages by glittering lakes, midsummer traditions, folk costumes and the famous Dala horse all originate here.

This journey follows in the footsteps of Dalarna’s famous artists Anders Zorn and Carl Larsson, the men who painted Sweden in the way the world still pictures it today, through the landscapes and culture that shaped their vision.
