Biking along Göta Canal
Start off in the small town of Sjötorp by lake Vänern where Göta Canal begins and continue south on the car-free road. You’ll pass many locks on the way where you can watch boats slowly pass by. At some places you can go for a refreshing swim – a great way to cool down after a day of biking. There are numerous hotels and lodging options all along the canal inviting you to take a break and explore the countryside around the canal. Many hotels and specialist companies offer quality cycling and accommodation packages, and you can even combine a cruise on the canal with a few days of cycling. Other highlights along the way include museums, crafts exhibitions and cafés serving freshly baked cinnamon buns.
