Kayaking
The coastline of Bohuslän is somewhat of a paradis for kayaking. There is something for everyone, from the experienced kayaker to the beginner. Bohusläns varied nature offers everything from open sea, stark cliffs and islets to the wilderness and its lakes.

West Sweden. It’s a little bit different…

Welcome to the “best” coast. CNN Travel named Sweden’s West Coast as 'one of the ten great wilderness areas left in the world' – and they weren’t exaggerating.

Its mix of deserted islands and pretty coastal villages make it unique in Europe. You should go here for the lobster, oyster and other shellfish delights of the villages of Grebbestad, Fjällbacka and Lysekil, as well as safe kayaking among the sheltered isles. With more than 8000 islands to discover, seal safaris, sea-fishing and boat excursions should also make your itinerary.

A road trip in West Sweden is made for curious travellers looking to experience the outdoors and reconnect with nature, whilst getting a fix of urban Scandi-cool.
Along Dusty Roads

Don’t miss:

  • A boat trip around Karingon. Darting in between tiny islands, meeting the seals of Seal Island before climbing the old lighthouse on Maseskar.
  • Walking or going on a seafood safari when visiting The Weather Islands
  • Cycling on South Koster Island, this tiny island in the North Sea - home to some sheep, a single shop, and 300 or so permanent residents - is as close to car free as a place can be.
  • Hike the Pilgrim Path, a hike through the spectacular Dalsland lakeland scenery
  • Gunnebo House and Gardens, at Gunnebo, a grand neoclassical house and gardens built by a wealthy merchant in the 1700s, and designed by Gothenburg’s famous architect Carl Wilhelm Carlsberg
  • Stay in the 72 hour cabins in Dalsland, a unique night’s sleep, and mesmerising to watch the raindrops on the glass
