Lobster and Swan explores Malmö and Skåne

Sweden is joyful, wholesome and open. It was all so amazing; the highlight was meeting so many creative people and their unique businesses, homes, projects and ideas. One of the most unique things we discovered was a potter and his studio with an incredible collection of works and an amazing hand built kiln. But it’s a battle between that and all the nature - we loved it all! The beaches and woodlands at Stenshuvud National Park were our best experience in nature (we saw red squirrels!).

Malmö is the best city we have visited for food; it’s knocked NYC off the top of the list. Our top three food experiences were Dinner at Lyran in Malmö, a picnic at Hörte Brygga (loved for its quality locally sourced menu and beautiful sea view) and home grown vegetables at Mellby Klockargard (a b&b close to the sea). We were surprised at how easy it was to find places to eat and how happy places were to adapt menus to accommodate our diet (vegan) - even without pre-warning we would have been able to eat in loads of places and that is always a bit stressful when you have awkward dietary needs.

We loved all the traditional houses and modern buildings too - thoughtful forward thinking designs (old and new). Accommodation in Sweden is super clean, comfy, stylish, restful and especially beautiful details at Mellby Klockargard and Karlaby Kro (a countryside hotel is in the beautiful Österlen region of Skåne).

Top tips from Lobster & Swan:

• Rent a bike to cover more ground in the city
  
• Get a loaf of bread from Bagaren & Bonden (craft bakery in Malmö) and eat it while people watching
  
• Pop into AB Småland (a lifestyle concept offering both newly designed and redesigned home interiors, fashion, workshop and an eco-café) for interior and design inspiration
